Google Back Links
To see how many links you or your competitor(s) are getting you will need to do this in a Google Search:
link:www.YOURDOMAINNAME.com (replace YOURDOMAINNAME with your actual domain name.)
Above, you see I am telling google to return all pages that are linking to this domain name (www.agencyrevolution.com).
To see all the links pointing to your domain and excluding your own links from showing in the results (same can be done for your competitors), us this in a Google Search:
link:www.YOURDOMAINNAME.com -YOURDOMAINNAME.com (when you use the minus symbol, do not include the www.)
Example: link:www.agencyrevolution.com -agencyrevolution.com
Above, you see I am telling google to return all pages that are linking to this domain name except from my own domain.
Open Site Explorer
Go to Open Site Explorer and type in your competitors domain name in the search box and click Search.
You will want to filter the results to show only the beneficial links, see image for the specific filters:
In the left column you will see the links pointing to your competitors website. Make sure to create an excel file to store these sites so you can go to each one you are not getting a link from and request for them. The right two columns show you Page Authority and Domain Authority, higher the numbers (closer to 100) the stronger the links are.
